DEVOTION - EMANATION - SANCTIFICATION
“P A C K” is…
…a meditative, character-driven documentary that follows Baltimore-based painter Gentry Pack as he prepares for his upcoming gallery exhibition. Observed through the perspective of director WAVEY — a filmmaker and photographer also rooted in Baltimore — the film offers a quiet, immersive portrait of an artist whose work bridges classical traditions and contemporary Black identity.
While the story centers on Gentry, the film is also shaped by the presence of WAVEY—not just behind the camera, but within the narrative itself. Appearing intermittently through voice and brief visual cameos, WAVEY serves as both narrator and guide, drawing out Gentry’s reflections through intimate conversations and rhythmic visual choices. His presence, subtle yet intentional, positions him as more than a documentarian: he becomes a creative counterpart whose lens—literal and metaphorical—frames the film’s emotional language.
Structured as a lyrical journey in four movements—a prologue followed by Devotion, Emanation, and Sanctification—the film traces not only Gentry’s creative evolution but also the broader themes of legacy, identity, risk, and spiritual discovery that shape the artist’s path.
The film is currently in pre-production and has been fiscally sponsored by Docs in Progress, a 501(c)(3) that focuses on fostering documentaries and providing filmmakers with a supportive community to help works-in-progress reach completion.
Currently we are accepting tax deductible donations to help finance the film.
